Terremoto de magnitude 7.6 atinge Filipinas e causa risco de tsunami

Até o momento, ainda não foi registrado o fenômeno, mas as autoridades locais alertaram a população

O Serviço Geológico dos Estados Unidos informou neste sábado, 2, que um terremoto de magnitude 7.6 atingiu a ilha de Mindanau nas Filipinas e que há risco de tsunami na localidade.

O tremor ocorreu a uma profundidade de 32 km por volta das 22h37 locais (11h37 de Brasília), cerca de 21 km a nordeste do município de Hinatuan, na província de Surigao del Sur, na ilha de Mindanao, relatou o Serviço Geológico dos Estados Unidos (USGS).

Segundo a Agência Filipina de Sismologia disse que ondas de tsunami poderiam atingir as Filipinas à meia-noite (13h no Brasil). Até o momento, ainda não foi registrado o fenômeno, mas as autoridades locais alertaram a população das zonas costeiras a se deslocar para o interior.

Segundo o Centro de Alerta de Tsunami do Serviço Nacional de Meteorologia de Honolulu, no Havaí, as ondas podem atingir até 3 metros nas Filipinas e entre 0,3 e 1 metro em Palau. "Espera-se um tsunami devastador com ondas cuja altura representa uma ameaça à vida”, declarou o Instituto Filipino de Vulcanologia e Sismologia na rede social X (antigo Twitter).
